Plaster of Paris Bandage consists of leno-weave gauze fabric that is coated with a blend of the Alpha and Beta forms of Calcium Sulphate Hemi Hydrate (Plaster of Paris), POP Bandage together with binders and accelerators. One of the best pop bandages for fractures.
A POP bandage, also known as a plaster of Paris bandage or simply a plaster bandage, is a type of medical bandage used for immobilizing and supporting fractures or broken bones. It is made of a cotton bandage coated with plaster of Paris, a white powdery substance that, when mixed with water, hardens into a solid material.
To apply a POP bandage, the bandage is first immersed in water until it becomes fully saturated. It is then wrapped around the injured area, such as an arm or leg, to create a rigid cast that holds the bone in place. As the wet plaster of Paris sets and dries, it hardens and forms a sturdy protective covering over the affected area, providing support and preventing the movement of the broken bone. This immobilization promotes proper healing and helps reduce pain.
POP bandages are commonly used in orthopedic settings and are available in different widths and lengths to accommodate various body parts.
